Nepal Maharishi Foundation for Vedic Culture 26 T ranscendental Meditation has its basis in the eternal wisdom of the Vedic Tradi- tion brought out in its purity and effec- tiveness in this generation by Maharishi. It is a simple, natural, effortless technique practised for 20 minutes twice daily, whereby the mind easily and naturally arrives at the source of thought, the settled state of mind, the field of self-referral consciousness or Transcendental Consciousness. This field, being transcendental, is beyond re- proach; beyond time and space. It is eternally invincible—the state of Absolute. This was the level of consciousness bestowed on Arjuna in the teachings of Lord Krishna: Nistraigu∆yo bhavårjuna (Bhagavad-G¡ta, 2.45) Be without the activity of the three Gunas (experience Transcendental Consciousness— the Self), oh Arjuna The practice of Transcendental Meditation can be described by one word of Âk Veda: Nivartadhwaµ (Âk Veda, 10.19.1) Come back to the silence, remain connected with the invincible source of Nature’s intelligence within yourself. This source of nature’s intelligence, this field of Transcendental Consciousness, is called by modern science the Unified Field of all the Laws of Nature. From here, established in Yoga, self-referral consciousness, perform action. This is ex- pressed in Vedic terms as: Yogastha˙ kuru karmå∆i (Bhagavad-G¡ta, 2.23) Established in the Self, perform action From here, the level of Yoga, the action of Yagya is performed with the TM-Sidhi pro- gramme including Yogic Flying.
